And the Winner is...

After 3 weeks of intense deliberations, your BUITM Thursday DJs have determined that the winner of this year's March Madness tournament for best movie in the past 25 years is Toy Story!  Toy Story beat out The Shawshank Redemption in a close championship match up.

Also, the Thursday staff would like to wish Zach Stone, Phil DiMartino, and the rest of their crew the best time ever on their trip to Washington D.C. to root for the BU Terriers in the Frozen Four.  Special thanks also to Dean Elmore for calling in today and filling us in on all the details concerning the viewing party for the hockey game at Agganis Arena.  Check it out tonight at 8pm for free food, free skating, and hockey on the Jumbo-Tron!  GO BU!!!

Be sure to tune in next week for all your favorite DJs and a special discussion of every BU student's favorite holiday: Marathon Monday!

Sir Robert Charles Griggs on BUITM!!!

Hey Peeps,

Charles Griggs who will be a guest on Thursday, February 18 on BU in the Morning!

Thank you Wikipedia for this lovely bio:

Sir Robert Charles Griggs

He began his career in the 1950's as a performer on the country music television show, "Town Hall Party." Later, his career took him to Nashville where he worked in recording studios as a sideman. In 1973, he recorded his first solo album, The Legend of Sir Robert Charles Griggs. The album, while not a big seller and now out of print, has achieved an underground cult status. Produced by Gary Paxton, it is an innovative showcase of experimental alt-country music, with all songs written by Griggs himself. Moog synthesizers and sound effects on some tracks set this album apart from the rest, as being ahead of its time.
In 1968, Joe Williams recorded Griggs' song Young Man on the Way Up on the album Something Old, New, and Blue for Solid State Records, and in 1973, Dick Curless recorded Country Soul on the album The Last Blues Song.
Griggs suffered from alcoholism and became disillusioned with the recording industry, dropping out of the scene altogether. He now lives in Hemet, California, working at a local school.
In 2008, his second album In to Jazz was released. It was self-released and produced by Griggs and bassist Jim DeJulio.

Hope you all enjoy it! Remember to catch BU in the Morning every weekday morning from 10am-12pm only on WTBU.

Thirsty Thursday Pick of the Week!

Hello to all you BUITM Thursday fans! With our fascinating discussions, the provocative interview with Tim Gilday, our ever-informative sports block, and of course the irresistible music, our listeners this morning were deprived of Caitlin's Thirsty Thursday Pick of the Week!  But fear not, fellow bar-hoppers!  Here I am, my first post on the BUITM Blog, keeping you up to date on the most fun, cheapest, most hoppin', and the most popular hotspots in the greater Boston University area.

Tonight's pick is the infamous Wonder Bar!  Located on the always-happening Harvard Avenue, Wonder Bar's Thursday Night is a two-part partying extravaganza!  From 7:30 to 9pm, come on out with your closest and smartest friends and take part in Stump! Trivia Night.  It's free to enter, and there are prizes to be had for the Einsteins of the night.  But just as the drinks start to chip away at the knowledge built up from your $50,000/year education, Wonder Bar transforms into Trend Thursdays, and DJ Turbz will be there to spin the hottest beats for you and your trivia team to bust a move.

Thanks for checking in, and be sure to stop in at all of BUITM's top bar and club picks!
